Timeline of our 12-week program
Week 1: The Dental Assisting Profession
In week 1 you'll learn: The history of Dentistry, the Professional Dental Assistant, the Dental Healthcare Team, Dental Ethics, and Dentistry and the Law.
Week 2: Sciences in Dentistry
In week two you'll learn: General Anatomy, General Physiology, Oral Embryology and Histology, Head and Neck Anatomy, Landmarks of the Face and Oral Cavity, Overview of the Dentitions, and Tooth Morphology.
Week 3: Oral Health & Prevention of Dental Disease
In week 3 you'll learn: Dental Canes, Periodontal Disease, Preventative Dentistry, Nutritions, and Oral Pathology.
Week 4: Infection Prevention in Dentistry
In week four you'll learn: Microbiology, Disease Transmission and Infection Prevention, Principles and Techniques of Disinfection, and Principles and Techniques of Instrument Processing and Sterilization.
Week 5: Occupational Health & Safety
In week five you'll learn: Regulatory and Advisory Agencies, Chemical and Waste Management, Dental Unit Waterlines, and Ergonomics.
Week 6: Patient Information and Assessment
In week six you'll learn: The Patient's Dental Record, Vital Signs, Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, The Special Needs and Medically Compromised Patient, Principles of Pharmacology, and Assisting in a Medical Emergency.
Week 7: Foundation of Clinical Dentistry
In week seven you'll learn: The Dental Office, Delivering Dental Care, Dental Hand Instruments, Dental Handpieces and Accessories, Moisture Control, and Anesthesia and Pain Control.
Week 8: Radiographic Imaging
In week seven you'll learn: Foundations of Radiography, Radiographic Equipment, and Radiation Safety, Digital Imaging, Dental Film, and Processing Radiographs, Legal Issues, Quality Assurance, and Infection Prevention, Intraoral Imaging, and Extraoral Imaging.
Week 9: Dental Materials
In week nine you'll learn: Restorative and Esthetic Dental Materials, Dental Liners, Bases, and Bonding Systems, Dental Cements, Impression Materials and Techniques, and Laboratory Materials and Procedures.
Week 10: Assisting in Comprehensive Dental Care
In week ten you'll learn: General Dentistry, Matrix Systems and Restorative Dentistry, Fixed Prosthodontics, Provisional Coverage, Removeable Prosthodontics, Dental Implants, Endodontics, Periodontics, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Pediatric Dentistry, Coronal Polishing, Dental Sealants, and Orthodontics.
Week 11: Dental Administration and Communication Skills
In week eleven you'll learn: Communication in the Dental Office, Business Operating Systems, Financial Management in the Dental Office, and Marketing Your Skills.
Week 12: Culmination Week
In week twelve you'll learn: Final Clinical Competency, Final Written Exam, and Graduation.
